After months of paperwork and formal meetings, it’s official, the Cotswold Water Park is shortly going to be known as the Cotswold Lakes! Local businesses feel the name better represents the area and what visitors will find.
Why the Name Change?
It was felt for some time that the Cotswold Water Park name was a little misleading or confusing, conjuring up images of swimming pools, splash parks and water rides. This is a far cry from the natural wetland landscape that can be found here. By rebranding as Cotswold Lakes, the name better describes the area of 42 square miles, with 180 lakes, rich in biodiversity and wildlife.
Mark Thomas, Managing Director for Orion Holiday’s mentioned:
“We are really pleased that the name change has been approved. Cotswold Lakes much better describes this unique natural environment and will help more people to discover and understand what’s on offer here whether they are visiting for the day or booking a holiday.”
What will Visitors Find in the Cotswold Lakes?
One of the best kept secrets in the Cotswolds, there are so many different ways to explore this beautiful wetland landscape. Whether you want to explore the many miles of cycling and walking paths, stop to do some bird watching of some of the 200 species that visit the lakes each year, or whether you want to get on or in the water and enjoy the great fishing or watersports, there is so much on offer for visitors and holidaymakers.
Preserving this Wetland Wonder
One thing that all businesses in the area are agreed on, is that the Cotswold Lakes is a unique and special place and one which needs to be conserved and looked after for future generations to enjoy. That’s why Orion Holidays is proud to be a Habitat Hero supporting the fantastic conservation work that the Cotswold Lakes Trust do. Guests and visitors to the area can support this work not only through membership but also through the many volunteering opportunities they put on each year.
