Holiday Itinerary for Families

Inspiration to Help You Get the Most out of Your Holiday

Arrival Day

Head to the Gateway Information Centre and grab lunch and coffee at the Gateway Café next to the Cotswold Outdoors store. You can pick up the free ‘Leisure Map’ highlighting all the local tourist information & activities available for you plan and enjoy.

If you need any groceries or need to stock up, head off to the Cirencester Tesco Superstore only 5-10 minutes away. There is also a local convenience store and a Co-op in the village of South Cerney.

Or why not experience the superb selection of local produce at the Jesse Smith Farm Shop at Cirencester? Load up the fridge with BBQ food from the Butcher’s Block and delicatessen delights for an al fresco dinner on the decking for the evening.

Day 1

Morning

Milk the goats & feed the pigs at Butts Farm Rare Breeds, Cafe & Farm Shop

See little piglets running about the farm and chickens roaming the grounds. Fun for children and adults alike The Butts Farm is a working farm that showcases rare breeds and traditional farm animals. Try your hand at milking the long haired goat, cuddle a bunny, feed the chickens and pigs or groom a pony. Plus source some locally sourced produce from the award winning shop to enjoy later.

Lunch

Grab lunch and a cool beer on the waterside balcony at the Lakeside Brasserie on Spring Lake and watch the waterskiing and wakeboarding.

 

Afternoon

Get out on the water at The Real Outdoor Xperience 

For guests seeking adventures on the water, ROX offers an exhilarating range of watersports and land based activities in the heart of Cotswold Water Park. Go canoeing, sailing, paddleboarding or head out as a family on the novel Katakanus.

 

Evening

BBQ on the sundeck
Time to head home, dry out and relax in your lakeside holiday home. Go out onto the decking, fire up the BBQ and chill out while watching the wildlife and wonderful views.

Day 2

Morning

Bike hire, explore the area and off road trails on bikes followed by a pub lunch

There are a number of well marked trails, quiet lanes and routes that are accessible for all to enjoy all around the Cotswold Water Park area. The various cycle routes pass through various villages such as South Cerney, Ashton Keynes & Somerford Keynes all of which have good pub lunch stops as well as plenty of café options too.

Choose between – Eliot Arms, The Old George Inn, The Royal Oak

 

Afternoon

Competitive shootout at The Cotswold Range

Try your hand at archery or air rifles and challenge each other in a set of fun target games such as ‘Split the Arrow’, ‘Pistol Maze’ or the ‘Apple Challenge’ all in a sheltered purpose built venue close to Somerford Keynes. Run by Archery GB qualified instructors and great for all ages 8 years + to become expert sharpshooters!

 

Dinner

Try a takeaway from Pizzeria 720°

Day 3

Morning

Enjoy a lakeside walk & picnic with water, wildlife & nature all around at Neigh Bridge Country Park

The Park is open all year round with plenty of parking and is ideal for accessing the Thames Path National Trail. Neigh Bridge is also a great place to start some beautiful circular walks which will give you an insight into the true landscape of the Cotswold Water Park. Lunch

Picnic at the Cotswold Country Park & Beach 

 

Afternoon

Get wet at the Cotswold Beach & Country Park

Home to the largest inland paddling beach in the UK. Relax with friends and family on a sandy beach beside a beautiful swimming lagoon, or enjoy activities from water sports, to tackling the AquaVenture inflatable course. Visitors can hire boats, kayaks and paddleboards, play mini golf and have family BBQ’s & picnics within beautiful parkland.

 

Dinner

Treat yourselves to dinner out at an Asian fusion tapas

Book a fancy glass pod or lakeside cabin and treat yourself with an Asian Fusion Tapas at Waterside Kitchen & Bar

This sample itinerary includes much of what our guests have loved doing over the years. What you choose to do depends entirely on the make up of your group and which lake location you are staying. Several of the lakes have their own facilities and activities on site exclusive only to the guests staying there.
